China Mobile’s Jilin subsidiary has switched on the province’s first province-wide 700 MHz 5G RedCap network, lifting administrative-village coverage to 98.7% — a milestone for rural IoT in northeastern China.

The “Golden Band” Advantage

By leaning on the 700 MHz band’s wide coverage, Jilin Mobile reached deep into Changbai Mountain areas and the Songnen Plain, solving the high cost and weak signal that traditionally plague rural rollout. Using a “build new sites with full support, upgrade existing sites in batches” approach, it built a “wide-area + precise” RedCap system spanning cities, counties, towns and villages.

Enabling Digital Villages

The network underpins smart agriculture, remote healthcare and online education. With module costs falling and connections already in the tens of millions, RedCap is spreading from industry into consumer wearables and connected vehicles. For remote and rural deployments, our 700 MHz-compatible routers are a natural fit for exactly this kind of lightweight, low-power coverage.
